Is the Ego the Cause of All Problems in Society?
Lately there are more and more shocking headlines in the news, such as: “Father Rapes Daughter,” “Teacher Molests Student,” and “Teenager Goes On Shooting Spree.”
Talk shows such as Jerry Springer and Oprah, which have become so popular, feature more and more people speaking out about their personal and psychological problems. Every year people are speaking out more openly about the things they could not mention before. They are letting their most unsettling desires, thoughts, disorders and deviations come into the open, such as has never been seen before.
Where could this astonishing trend be coming from? Why are so many people turning into real-life monsters, and others – victims of their monstrosity?
Human Egoism as Cause of All Problems
Kabbalah, the science that studies human nature, says that there is only one cause for all of this: humanity’s ever-growing egoism. Human nature is a desire to receive pleasure at any cost, and it has grown bigger and bigger throughout history.
In current times, this desire has grown so big that society has lost control of it, and Kabbalah states that the ego will continue growing until people become such monsters that they won’t be able to stand themselves.
What Can Be Done About Growing Human Egoism?
The question is, what can be done about this ever-growing ego?
Kabbalah says that there is a lot that can be done, and that the results of the ego’s extreme growth can be circumvented if only people desire it. Kabbalah explains that there is a program of development dictating that human egoism has to be revealed to the fullest before people can reverse it.
However, it does not have to be revealed through the horrible forms that are witnessed today. Instead of being revealed to humanity though actions, it can be revealed through each person’s inner realization of it.
Awareness and Education - The Means for Correcting Human Egoism
Kabbalah states that all people have to do is become aware of their egoism before it is expressed externally, in action. And then, people wouldn’t have to go through the pain and suffering that the whole world is going through.
Kabbalah explains exactly how to achieve this realization: through education, a continuous explanation that will show people what human nature is, and how it dresses into all kinds of actions in the world.
Kabbalah expresses that once people learn that human nature is a desire to receive pleasure, no matter what the cost to others, then people will see that their egoism is evil and detrimental to themselves and to others. And then, people will have the knowledge and the desire to correct this evil inclination, and make its use for good unto others, and inevitably, unto themselves also.
By learning how to aim it in such a way, Kabbalah states that this is the learning process that will lead humanity on an opposite course to its current one, to achieving harmony with nature and completeness.
